About Us

DVHelp.AI was born from a God-inspired vision: to make meaningful legal-document assistance accessible to survivors of domestic violence when they need it most.

The barriers survivors face

For more than 10 years, we have worked with domestic violence survivors and witnessed the obstacles they face when seeking protection. One of the greatest barriers is cost. Attorneys may charge approximately $1,500 or more to prepare restraining-order paperwork, while document-preparation services may charge $300 to $500—often without providing the quality and attention that a survivor’s circumstances deserve, which can contribute to them losing in court.

Although legal-aid organizations provide an invaluable public service, they are not always a practical or immediate option. Survivors may need to take time off work, arrange childcare, travel to an office, and wait hours to receive assistance. For someone in crisis, these obstacles can mean leaving without help and returning to an unsafe environment.

Timing presents another serious challenge. Survivors are often told that they must wait until the following business day before they can begin the process. Every delay may leave them vulnerable to further abuse. Survivors can start applying for their restraining order immediately with our service.

Why we built DVHelp.AI

DVHelp.AI was created to help overcome these barriers. Our service is affordable, private, and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It guides users through the preparation of detailed, attorney-quality restraining-order declarations and forms from the safety and convenience of their own location.

Our AI system was developed using the knowledge and experience of a highly regarded Southern California domestic violence attorney. The declaration process helps survivors describe not only what happened, but how they experienced it—what they saw, heard, felt, and, when relevant, smelled. These sensory details can bring the survivor’s experience to life and help the judicial officer more fully understand the circumstances surrounding the abuse.

For survivors who cannot afford courtroom representation, a clear and well-organized declaration can also provide a valuable roadmap for presenting their experience in court.
